A model-specific reminder for returning the battery to its operating position after approved maintenance work.

Step-by-step instruction card for returning a reach truck battery to its operating position
Key guide: return the truck to its operating position

After approved battery maintenance, the battery must be correctly returned and secured before the truck is used. The instruction card below shows the procedure used for the Toyota reach truck pictured.

Controls, interlocks and battery arrangements differ between models and configurations. Use this guide only alongside the exact truck manual, site procedure and operator training for the individual unit.

Use the guide only for the matching truck arrangement

Confirm that the reach truck has the same battery-access arrangement as the one illustrated. Do not copy a key or mast-control sequence from another model simply because the truck looks similar.

Only trained and authorised personnel should carry out battery-related work or operate the mast controls for this purpose. Keep the area clear while the procedure is being completed.

Return the battery to the operating position

For the illustrated truck, the key is held in the required position and the mast control lever is moved back until the battery is locked. The card uses a click as confirmation for that specific arrangement.

Do not assume every reach truck gives the same sound or uses the same control direction. If the battery lock does not engage, do not operate the truck—report it for assessment.

Before normal operation resumes

  • Confirm the battery is properly secured using the approved model-specific check.
  • Keep people clear of the mast, battery movement path and controls.
  • Complete the applicable pre-operation checks before resuming normal work.
  • Report damaged latches, unusual movement, leakage, heat or warning indicators promptly.
